Letters to You, Wherever You Are

I often think of my adoption as the best and worst thing that's ever happened to me. The best because I'm a Kalajainen, and my family is honestly the best thing in my life. The worst because I don't know where I came from. Well, Seoul, but I don't know hardly anything about my biological parents, who they were, what they looked like, anything.

I never really talk about my adoption very openly, but I think about my birth mother daily. So years ago I started writing letters to her. It's a different kind of writing than copywriting because nothing gets revised or edited. It's a pure stream of conscious writing that has helped me express the beauty and hardship of adoption.
